We already know that Neneh Cherry has been away from the solo album game for a spell, which led to why we were stoked to hear the surprising news that Cherry was closing that 16-year gap with an upcoming brand new effort. At the time of the news, there was no telling what was in store, especially after hearing that Four Tet and Robyn were to be collaborators on the project. Well, now we get some sort of answer, as Cherry unveiled the title, cover art and tracklisting to her now fourth album Blank Project, as well as threw in the bonus of a first listen to the RocketNumberNine produced title track. Safe to say, Cherry is still "raw like sushi" as she vocally claws her way through a crunchy maze of guitars, percussion and synths while she assertively addresses the contradictory emotions within a marriage. As this bold electro-sonic number pounds away trumpeting a solid return for Cherry, I'm already assured that the Blank Project as a whole will be of interesting quality when it arrives on February 26th of next year.
