We 'Can't Describe' How Good This Jennifer Hudson & Pharrell Collaboration Is

With one movie already released this year and two coming down the pike, Jennifer Hudson's been doing her thing in the world of film. However, it seems that the Weight Watcher's spokeswoman doesn't mind making her fans wait for new music. But when that wait results in something great, it's hard to be mad that it took so long. Enlisting producer-on-fire Pharrell Williams, who's constantly been behind some of this year's best musical moments, the singer delivers a knockout with new single "I Can't Describe (The Way I Feel)." Channeling a bit of the late '70s/early '80s R&B sound (think Cheryl Lynn or Evelyn "Champagne" King), the producing dynamo delivers the perfect dance floor groove for Hudson's larger-than-life vocals. The groove walks the fine line between retro and modern, finally giving us an uptempo track that works with Jen rather than forcing the diva to conform to the song. And the addition of T.I., who could teach a class on how to guest rap on an R&B track, keeps the groove going without distracting from the star of the show. While this is the first taste we're getting of Hudson's new material, there's no other word on when we can expect Jennifer's new project or what else we can expect from it. If this is the first taste we're getting though, I'm eager to hear what else she's going to bring to the table this go 'round.
