Snarky Puppy Invite Everyone To Their 'Family Dinner'

With all the bells and whistles available today, it's easy to make any and everybody sound decent in the studio. But when the talent is really and truly there, it's easy to separate the real from the technologically-enhanced. Such is the case in the latest from jazz-soul outfit Snarky Puppy. The band delivers a soulfully, funky jam session in their video for "Gone Under," featuring Shayna Steele on vocals, that premiered exclusively on Okayplayer. Complete with driving horns, some rollicking keys and Shayna's powerful pipes, the song would be right at home in any speakeasy or church with its gospel-worthy lyrics. Taken from Snarky Puppy's upcoming project Family Dinner, Volume 1, "Gone Under" and the rest of the LP were recorded live in March of this year. Other guest vocalists include Lalah Hathaway, N'dambi and more. Available as an eight-track CD or 15-track DVD, the Family Dinner, Volume 1 project goes on pre-sale on August 29th before officially dropping on September 9th. The best of all is that proceeds from the album's sales will benefit the Music Lab at the Jefferson Center in Roanoke, VA, where it was also recorded. Watch a photo montage of the recording session with an unnamed track from Family Dinner providing the soundtrack, then hop on over to Ropeadope Records on the 29th to pre-order and support a worthy cause. There's no way anybody can lose with this one.
