Faith Evans Takes Us Back With An 'Ode To '95'

It has been 18 years since Faith Evans released her debut album, Faith. Eighteen. Almost two decades. Yeah, marinate on that. Still what has always remained the same is that the First Lady of Bad Boy has been a mainstay in the R&B game (save for a few little hiccups along the way) as she continues to work that grind with each new project she puts herself into, and as always she's not letting you forget that she's been holding it down since day one. With the unreleased cut, "Recognize (Ode To '95)" she does just that, as she takes us on a retrospect of how it all began with names drops of Puff Daddy (Diddy will always be Puff Daddy to me, okay) and her late husband The Notorious B.I.G. tossed into a slick throwback mix. The track is just the right kick-start to Evans' new online series #fizzyfridays, where she'll weekly treat fans with brand new music for a rumored upcoming album. Now, I don't know about you, but after hearing "Recognize" I have a sudden urge to give Faith a spin and do the time warp back to when Evans was a "hot blonde chick from the Jersey bricks" and when R&B music was in its golden prime -- just this time I can enjoy listening without the pain of braces and pre-teen angst.
