Bounce-Worthy: Amalia

Amalia is no stranger to the pages of SoulBounce. Back in December we brought you her collaboration with Swedish producer Opolopo on "Life's A Dance (New Opo Swing Mix)" taken from Tokyo Dawn's excellent The Boogie compilation. Then last month we highlighted the track "Bonafide" from Opolopo's Voltage Controlled Feelings album, which also features Amalia on vocals. For fans of those two tracks and lovers of '80s inspired electro-funk in general, the good news is that "Tokyo Dawn's first lady" will be dropping her debut album, Art Slave, on March 4th (although you can cop the pre-release download here). Drawing clear parallels to the likes of Chaka Khan and Sheila E., the album is drenched in Opolopo's signature production style but it's Amalia's powerhouse vocals that are the real centrepiece. The album includes the two tracks we have already highlighted, and you can check out my personal favorite "All The Funk I Need" below. As an added bonus, the album teaser video, featuring Opolopo and Amalia, can be seen right here.
