Opolopo Brings Back Those '80s 'Feelings'

First we had the '60s/'70s retro soul revival, which is still going strong, and now it seems that the '80s is the go-to decade for inspiration. Many artists, most notably Dam-Funk, are mining the synth-heavy, boogie-funk sound and updating it with a new millennium twist. Swedish producer Opolopo is one such artist who we introduced to you last month as part of Tokyo Dawn Records' The Boogie compilation. After a little digging, I came across his solo album, Voltage Controlled Feelings, also released on Tokyo Dawn, which dropped at the end of last year. Aimed squarely at the dance floor, the album is the perfect party accompaniment, guaranteed to get bodies moving. Check out the brilliant "Bonafide," featuring regular collaborator Amalia, and "Our World," featuring electro-soulster Erik Rico, and I dare you not break out into an old school dance.
