Tamia has been putting a move on our hearts ever since she stepped into Q’s Jook Joint with the maestro Quincy Jones in 1995. Three decades later, she’s still singing love songs that strike a chord with her latest single “Forever And A Day.”
The songbird links back up with Claude Kelly and Chuck Harmony, the songwriting and production duo also known as Louis York. The collaborators have an excellent track record together, working on Tamia’s songs “Beautiful Surprise,” “It’s Not Fair” and “Lipstick” and Louis York’s single “Three Little Words” from their 2024 album Songs With Friends. They charm us once again with “Forever And A Day,” a romantic ballad that finds Tamia reflecting on a love that has stood the test of time and still makes her feel all the things.
Happily married to Grant Hill for 27 years, Tamia didn’t have to look far to find inspiration for this song. She sings from experience, effortlessly capturing the feelings of lovers who are locked in and fully committed to loving each other.
Strings, twinkling keys and guitar lay the foundation that she builds on with vibrant vocals and tender lyrics. “My love, I’ve got a soft spot in my heart for you / With every touch you send me up to the moon / And my heart goes boom when I’m near you,” Tamia sings on the first verse. “I, I find it amazing how I still come undone / With every touch you give me reason to run / Back into your arms ’cause you’re one of one.”
From the verses to the melodic chorus to the beautiful bridge, she is singing from her heart and soul, but she truly soars on the coda. Tamia blows the roof off as the song nears its conclusion, singing, “So let’s make a vow (forever) / We’ll hold each other down (forever) / Forever, and ever (can it go on and on and never change) / You’re my lover and my best friend (forever) / Don’t let this feeling end (forever) / Oh, can we go on and on and on and never change / Forever and a day.”
In the visual for “Forever And A Day,” Tamia takes us to one of her favorite places: the concert stage. The video features performance clips with her background singers and band, including footage from her recent South Africa tour, and even a quick cameo by her husbae Grant.
“Singing live and performing around the world will always be something I cherish and never take for granted,” the celebrated songstress shared on Instagram with a snippet of the video. “Thank you for always singing with me.”
