Joyce Wrice has been laying the groundwork for something new all year, starting in January with the single “Break Me In” and “Crack The Code” following in May. After giving both songs time to breathe, she’s finally confirmed that they’ll be included on her forthcoming sophomore album, Machiko. To signal its impending arrival and kick the album rollout into high gear, Wrice blesses fans with the set’s third single, “Fly (Someone You Love)” featuring femcee SALIMATA.

Like previous Machiko singles, Joyce has romance on the brain on “Fly (Someone You Love).” She’s involved with someone who makes her feel all the things, and she wants to upgrade their relationship to first class. “The way your eyes looking at me right now / Got me thinking I could fly / I could be someone you love,” Joyce sweetly sings to her love interest on the hook of the chill mid-tempo groove.

SALIMATA follows Joyce’s lead and seeks some clarity of her own on her verse. “Second guessing, guess again / Like, is we lovers? Is we friends? / Still can’t get enough of him, and I don’t wanna play pretend,” she raps.

“Fly (Someone You Love)” is yet another banger from Joyce Wrice. Thankfully, her Machiko era is just getting started. The album title is her middle name, which means “city girl” in Japanese, and she looks like she’s ready for a sexy night out on the town on the cover. The LP will feature 14 songs, and, though she hasn’t revealed the tracklist yet, we won’t have long to wait for it. Machiko drops on Friday, October 9th and is currently available for pre-save/pre-add on digital music platforms.
