Josh Levi is coming up on the first anniversary of his debut album HYDRAULIC, and his foot is still on the gas. He took fans for a ride on his sold-out HYDRAULIC TOUR earlier this year and is currently across the pond on his HYDRAULIC European Tour. Josh keeps it moving and celebrates the album’s forthcoming anniversary with the release of the deluxe edition HYDRAULIC: FUELED UP showcasing a few special guests, including the Vocal Bible herself Brandy.
HYDRAULIC: FUELED UP adds five tracks to the original LP. Unlike most deluxe albums that tack any extras on at the end, Levi flips the script and presents the additions at the beginning of the set. Included on the project are three brand-new songs — the single “SWERVE,” “HOUSTON” with rapper/singer Teezo Touchdown and “SYSTEM OVERLOAD” — and two remixes — the “RODEO REMIX” with rapper Kirko Bangz and the Brandy-featuring “SAY IT REMIX.”
“SAY IT” was already the sexy centerpiece of the album, and the remix keeps that same energy. Josh’s first verse, the chorus and instrumentation remain in tact before Brandy slides through with a fresh and flirtatious second verse.
“Boy, you better be careful what you asking for / Be ready when I’m at your door / I know it’s been on your mind (It’s been on your mind lately),” she enticingly sings while he sprinkles in some killer harmonies. She continues, “I’ll say whatever helps you sleep at night / I’m a woman of my word / Ain’t gotta show me you deserve it.” The two singers are locked in and sound so good together that we hope that this isn’t their last duet.
Brandy linking with Josh on the “SAY IT REMIX” is her latest collaboration with R&B’s next generation following recent work with Kehlani, CAMPER, Daniel Caesar and her daughter Sy’Rai. With Josh Levi snagging the legendary artist for his deluxe album, it’s safe to say that he has arrived.
