Rochelle Jordan is having quite the moment. The dance diva has been riding a wave of recognition for her work and even became a collaborator with the elusive chanteuse Mariah Carey in the process on a remix of “Didn’t Mean To Turn You On.” But she’s not just a muse to others; she’s also a force in her own right. After dropping off Disc 1 of her Through The Wall remix EP series, she’s now moving on to Disc 2. And what better way to introduce the next chapter than a remix of her banger “Never Enough” by Chad Hugo.
The vibe-y floor-filler about a lover who never seems satisfied was already an outstanding cut on an album full of them. Chad Hugo’s approach isn’t to improve upon perfection. Instead, the superproducer builds upon the track’s stellar foundation. The song’s twirling, percussive bass and chords remain, but Chad takes it to outer space with a fat, squelchy electro-bass that bounces to the beat. A few other changes — including space-age background sounds and excising the tempo switch-up at the end — make this feel like a refreshing new take on something we already loved.
Like Disc 1, Disc 2 will contain four remixes of songs from Through The Wall. It will also boast a pedigree of legends and newer producers in the mix, with Hugo’s remix sitting alongside contributions by Terry Hunter, Bianca Oblivion and Shanti Celeste. The wait for the EP’s release won’t be long, either, with its release scheduled for Thursday, September 10th. After that, you can look for the remaining EPs in the series to arrive in October, November and December.
