DESTIN CONRAD has been catching a vibe all summer with the rollout of his third album ROADRUNNER. The set finds the GRAMMY-nominated R&B artist diving into reggae and getting more in touch with his Jamaican roots and culture. After setting the tone with the singles “NERVOUS” and “I LOVE YOUR BODY,” CONRAD preps us for ROADRUNNER’s release with the LP’s third single “FAVORITE LOVER.”
Dancehall DESTIN yearns for a little loving on the sexy, bass-heavy track as he sings flirtatious lyrics to the object of his desire. Sparks fly between them, but he makes it clear he’s looking for a good time, not a long time. Though their connection was fleeting, he’s left wondering and pondering. “Baby, you know you could’ve been my baby / You know you could’ve been my favorite lover / And now you’re gone so far,” he croons on the hook after their hookup.
For the accompanying Filmaica-directed visual, we’re transported back to Jamaica, where we join DESTIN in an undisclosed location surrounded by lush flora. He stands out from the scenery in a colorful ’fit while holding a wild chicken in his arms. We follow along as he strolls on a beach with people in the background swimming in the clear blue water. He pops up on the water in a rowboat with a couple seated behind him, enjoying each other’s company. Though we never see DESTIN with a love interest, we do get additional solo scenes of him in fire ’fits before the laid-back clip ends.
