Chaka Khan recently made her grand debut on COLORS’ coveted colorful stage last month, and she’s already back for seconds. The diva returned to the performance platform to break us off with a little something from her forthcoming album Chakzilla. After taking us “Through The Fire” with a Quiet Storm classic for her first appearance, Khan is taking fans for another twirl on the dance floor to premiere the new single “Curious Subject.”
She came through dripping in another all-black ensemble accented with metallic bedazzling and cowboy boots. With one of her shoulders exposed, the sexy septuagenarian looked every bit the vintage babe that she is. Chaka didn’t just provide eye candy, though; she delivered ear candy on “Curious Subject” with a side of food for thought.
Over a slick instrumental groove featuring synths, piano, bass and percussion, Chaka reflects on being the curious subject central to the introspective lyrics. “The more I grow, the less I know / And that’s the way I wanna be / The more I show, entertains you so / And I don’t mind it, no, no, no, no,” she sings on the track.
Chaka Khan is twice as nice on her return to COLORS with the third single from Chakzilla, which drops on Friday, September 18th. Hot on the heels of the title track and “Boogie’s In My Soul” featuring Snoop Dogg, “Curious Subject” is another bop from this iconic showstopper.
