We've been thinking that Jorja Smith had something cooking when she dropped her single “What’s Done Is Done” back in May. Now, the British songstress is letting the cat out of the bag with the revelation that her newest album, What Are The Odds, will arrive this August. Ahead of the release, she’s teamed up with Nigerian superstar Wizkid for the set’s latest single “Alive.”
Produced by P2J, “Alive” is a slinky, sexy jam designed to steam up summer dance floors with its vibes — which matches Wizkid’s Afrobeats style with Jorja’s pop/R&B/garage sensibilities. The juxtaposition of the heavy knock of drums and the airy, more romantic elements are enough to make us swoon and sway to its groove.
The two stars trade romantic verses on the song, with Jorja leading the way. She sings of wanting to come over to his crib to get some satisfaction, noting that she’ll also leave him quite satisfied in return. Wizkid, meanwhile, plays loverman as he lets her know that he has the kind of loving that will have her coming back again and again. Capping off all this flirtation is a sexy, suggestive chorus summarizing what all this flirting will eventually lead to.
“All night / You make me feel so alive / Don’t stop, oh, you’re doing it right / You make me feel so alive,” Jorja sings. “We be up all night / How could you ever think twice? / When it comes to you and I / You make me feel so alive, so alive.”
Like many of Jorja’s videos, the clip for “Alive” puts the viewer in a party scene. This time, though, it begins with the singer getting ready for a night out in Paris with her girls. They play music while getting dressed, moving and swinging their hips to the song. Eventually, they make it out to the venue for a wild time.
That’s where Jorja finally links with Wizkid, and we get to watch their chemistry radiate from the screen. The two are all smiles as they flirt with and sing to each other while on a balcony overlooking the city. Alas, all good things must come to an end, and the clip does just that with a montage of the different scenes before fading to black.
What Are The Odds looks to include many more jams, with P2J handling production duties for the entirety of the project. It will also be a mostly Jorja Smith affair, with only Wizkid and grime artist Devlin being featured on the 12-song set.

There was never a big plan; it was just me making music that felt right in the moment,” Jorja said to Billboard about the album. “Working with P2J, we started experimenting with different sounds, pulling from UK garage, grime and house (funky house, Afro house) and it all grew from there.”
We’ll have to wait a bit longer to hear what all the fruits of that labor are, with What Are The Odds set for release on Friday, August 21st. But you can peep the album’s cover and tracklist when you scroll below.
