FLO might have had to delay the release of their sophomore album Therapy At The Club by a couple weeks, but the trio isn’t holding back when it comes to releasing tracks. So far, we’ve received the set’s title track, “Leak It” and “Don’t Break Her Heart.” Now, the ladies are taking us back into the club for another therapy session with their newest track “Remedied.”
The song finds FLO leaning fully into a pop sound with production reminiscent of Christina Aguilera’s “Ain’t No Other Man” or RAYE’s “WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!” thanks to its pace and similar musical elements. These include horn stabs and breakneck drums that keep the song propulsive and fun.
Lyrically, “Remedied” continues the themes that the ladies of FLO have highlighted so far in the lead-up to the album’s release. Namely, it’s all about seeking healing in the club after being dealt a heavy emotional blow. They sing of being down pretty bad until a call from their girls inviting them for a night out to help them forget about the pain. The song gets into the antics that ensue after, including getting a bit overserved and being on the verge of getting blackout drunk. Still, there’s something about music and friends that can make everything feel alright, which they express on the chorus.
“Ooh, found myself on the floor unexpectedly / Chasing that good medicine in the melody,” they sing. “Ooh, I was down, now my girls dancing next to me / Whoa, get me remedied.”
“‘Remedied’ is for anyone who’s been stuck in a rut,” the trio said about the song in a press statement. “It’s that moment you finally get up, get out, and remember who you are. Consider it your cure.”
FLO’s latest single definitely has our attention and will tide us over until Therapy In The Club makes its way to us on Friday, August 7th.
