The Beyhive has been clamoring, anticipating their queen Beyoncé would at last be releasing the final act of musical trilogy very, very soon. It seems that they were right, but not in the way they think — at least not yet. The superstar offered her fans quite the surprise over the holiday weekend by taking a visit to her vault and officially releasing her song “MORNING DEW (DONK).”
The song, which has been floating around the web and social media sites for years, is a rare subdued moment from the fiery performer that allows her luxuriate in the loving, sexy moments that happen between a couple in the mornings. That early morning vibe comes courtesy of her collaborators, which include Pharrell Williams on the production tip and Pharrell, The-Dream and DIXSON coming through alongside Bey on lyrics.
Speaking of the lyrics, this might be one of Beyoncé’s most romantic moments on record. She describes the simple moments that she and her beau share that leave her feeling full of love and make her want to share that loving feeling with him with her signature flawless vocals.
“It’s something ’bout that look you give me / Makin’ me feel that young love inside / Mmm, it’s something ’bout that feeling you give me / I can’t resist them butterflies,” she sings breathlessly on the song’s refrain. “Mmm, you need a woman holdin’ you down / Whenever, wherever, however, whatever, I’ll be right by your side / See, I just wanna love you, boy, if you don’t mind / Just kickin’ this little game of mine.”
The release of “MORNING DEW (DONK)” is the apparent kickstart of a 60-day countdown to the release of a special 20th-anniversary of her 2006 album B’Day this September, which also happens to coincide with her 45th birthday on September 4th. Being that this is Beyoncé, we’re still light on details about what this 60-day period until the re-release will bring. But she did give us a beautiful lyric video which repurposes footage shot by photographer Cliff Watts and turns it into a hazy and sexy moment.
