The next phase of B2K’s comeback is here. After officially reuniting in 2025, going on their sold-out Boys 4 Life Tour earlier this year and visiting the VERZUZ stage to battle Pretty Ricky, B2K is starting to roll out their first new album in over 20 years. Due this fall, the platinum-selling group introduces their as-yet-untitled fourth LP with the single “Mileage.”
Omarion, Raz-B, J-Boog and Lil Fizz previewed “Mileage” during their VERZUZ performance a few weeks ago. Instead of releasing the single right after the battle, the fellas decided to drop it on the 25th anniversary of the release of their debut single “Uh Huh.” That move was a stroke of genius from the quartet, who still have the same sound and chemistry today that they did back in the day.
“Mileage” finds them linking with producer Ethos, who understands the B2K assignment. He hooks them up with a sound bed featuring a smooth sample of EPMD’s “You’re A Customer,” which was also sampled by Jodeci on their iconic remix to “Come And Talk To Me.” The nostalgic instrumental lays the foundation for the guys to spin the block on an old flame.
O leads things off with some real talk on the first verse and chorus before J floats through on the second verse. Boog adds some razzle dazzle by interpolating the cadence of the “Annie, are you OK?” refrain from Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” to great effect. Following that, Fizz grabs the mic to spit a hot 16 on the bridge.
The visual for “Mileage” is directed by Bobby Van, who also did his B2K homework. He captures them on set in coordinating black ’fits for their shots together on a rotating platform. In their separate scenes with their respective video vixens, we see more of their individuality and swagger. Of course, a B2K video wouldn’t be complete without some dancing, and they break out into a little choreo on the building’s rooftop, then walk off into the sunset at the clip’s conclusion.
B2K is as happy to be back as their fans are to welcome them back. “We’ve shared so many moments together over the years, but being back in the studio creating new music has been something truly special,” the quartet stated in a press release. “‘Mileage’ is just the beginning, and we’re excited to finally start sharing this next chapter with our fans.”
“Mileage” is a fine return to form for B2K and sets the stage for them to set it off on their forthcoming album. The highly anticipated project will be released by BPC Music Group, the new label created by Black Promoters Collective, and distributed by Vydia.
