Arin Ray is making his way back into heavy rotation as he readies the release of his upcoming LIMBO EP. He introduced us to the upcoming project with his romantic single “Sweet Thang” and announced his short but sure-to-be-sweet LIMBO Tour this fall. But, ahead of the EP’s release next month, he’s giving us something else to jam to with the set’s latest single “Too Good.”

Arin is aiming for a throwback feel with this one. That’s obvious from the song’s first notes, which utilize ’80s-inspired synths and pair it with a drum machine sound reminiscent of the LinnDrum sound that populated many of the decade’s hits. It helps make this slow jam feel equally nostalgic and romantic, especially when Arin’s vocals come into play.

The singer is feeling the love on the song but is reluctant to say it. However, it’s not for the typical reasons usually offered. He knows how he feels and that he’s a changed man, but he also realizes that his bad boy past makes him feel less than deserving of his lady’s love. “You’re too good for me / And you know it, baby / You’re too good for me / ’Cause I was never no good,” he sings on the chorus.

“Too Good” is a prophetic title for the song, because it’s just that. Between Arin Ray’s yearning, loving vocal and the vintage vibes of the production, we can see this being added to many a bedroom playlist. And there will likely be more where that came from when LIMBO drops on Tuesday, August 11th.
