In 2024, Tinashe achieved quite the feat when she dropped “Nasty” and made it a true contender for song of the summer that year. It looks like Nashe wants to try to repeat that feat, and she might have just the song to do it. The singer is back on the block with her newest high-energy single “Too Easy.”

The track is dance floor-ready thanks to bouncy production given to Tinashe by her producers Kimj and Zack Sekoff. The two producers give her a sound that feels elastic thanks to synth bass and hard-hitting drums that make you want to move something. It’s all punctuated by Tinashe who gives us attitude and sass as she lets it be known that she’s currently killing the game.

The lyrics don’t feign to be too deep, as she asks us whether we’re ready to get it popping tonight at the spot. But if you’re hating on how fresh she is, she’s got a few words for you, singing, “I, I feel like a celebrity / If you’re mad, then go to therapy / But I can’t, I can’t help that I make it look so easy.”

Tinashe gets a little absurd for the song’s visual. In it, she gives us a behind-the-scenes look at life as a pop star. We start with her flaunting her beauty in a few glamorous stills before a loose lighting rig ends her existence. That kicks off the video’s concept as we watch the industry try to replace her. A cattle call of women trying to take her spot happens next, but nobody in the auditions can hold a candle to Nashe, so they go ahead with Plan B: a clone.

The clone seems to be able to keep the pace of the famous life with ease and a smile on her face. That is, until we reach a familiar scene, where the performer executes a high-octane dance routine similar to the one we saw at the top of the video. And that’s when it should dawn on you that the video is actually a loop, including the loose lighting rig that will lead to her demise.

“Too Easy” seems to be the omen of something more to come, though Tinashe is still not ready to reveal what else she has in store for us just yet. Until she does, we’ll be adding this one to our summer playlists.
