There have been a few considerations for the “song of the summer” title, and a strong contender is “Back And Forth,” the latest single from Kehlani that features guaranteed hitmaker Missy Elliott. But, of course, you can’t be song of the summer without a music video, so the singer gives us exactly that in a visual with appropriate party vibes.
The clip kicks off with a flashback — or maybe flash-forward — to some of the drama that Kehlani is experiencing in their relationship. But the visual blast moves by quickly as K and their crew stroll into the house party with Missy after she welcomes them into a palatial estate. Miss Misdemeanor takes that moment to kick her opening verse as she sets the scene for the track, and the camera pans across the party, with several cuties of all varieties sipping tequila from red cups and shaking it to the song’s addictive beat.
After this, the visual flashes between Kehlani and her bae’s conversation and the singer enjoying herself at the party. Lani keeps it sexy in either setting, showing plenty of skin in midriff-baring outfits that are perfect for hanging with her boo or dancing with her friends, including several notable dancers and Monica.
The video, which is the first to be released since the Kehlani album dropped in April, is a vibe and captures exactly how we’re trying to carry on at all the cookouts, house parties and festivals as the summer season gets into full swing.
