Glenn Lewis fans have been hoping, wishing and praying for a new album from him for years, and that patience is about to pay off. The artist is slated to release his fourth album Overture on Friday, July 19th, and anticipation is high thanks to his singles “Past Tense” and “G.Y.A.M.L. (My Love).” Glenn pours more gasoline on the fire with the LP’s third single “Impressions,” and it’s another scorcher.
The Canadian singer-songwriter connects with British beatmaker Jake Milliner on production. Milliner laces Lewis with a funky foundation of synth, drums, trumpet and assorted electronic elements. The instrumentation sounds like a party, and Glenn Lewis is just the man to get it started.
Glenn’s vocals have long been compared to Stevie Wonder, and, after listening to “Impressions,” he’s never beating the allegations. He channels the living legend as he woos a woman he’s been vibing with. She’s giving him mixed signals, though, and he needs to know what’s up.
He cuts to the chase on the chorus. “Don’t leave me guessin’ / Lookin’ in all / The wrong directions / Don’t leave me guessin’ / Gettin’ involved / On the wrong impression,” he sings, encouraging her to make her next move her best move. “Don’t leave me guessin’ / From the last impression / Your true expression / Is the last impression.”
