The-Dream has reentered the chat. Leading up to the 20th anniversary of his debut album Love/Hate in 2027, the multiple GRAMMY Award-winning artist, songwriter and producer who’s crafted hits for a who’s who of superstars is refocusing on his music and has announced his new album Love/Hate 2. The sequel to his debut set is the latest chapter in his Love Saga and his first LP in 13 years (not counting his Sextape mixtape series). To kick off the rollout, he’s doing some of his finest dirty macking on the single “Bring That Body.”

The song begins with The-Dream saying, “Previously on ‘Love/Hate’,” alluding to his first dirty macking anthem “I Luv Your Girl.” Though 19 years apart, the throughline from that track to “Bring Your Body” isn’t that surprising considering that they’re both co-written and co-produced by Dream and Tricky Stewart. The production partners are back in their bag on this slick successor that features the singer applying pressure on a woman and encouraging her to leave her dude and get with him.

Over a mesmerizing beat and synths, The-Dream sings lyrics that flow from seductive to savage. “Bring your red lips over here, over here, over here, over here / Lay your head right here, right here, over here, real quick,” he croons. “Heard he didn’t love you / Tell me where to kiss it, tell me how to fix it / Call it hating, but he ain’t s**t.” Hey, he’s not hating, he’s just stating.

The-Dream continues his play on the chorus. “Shawty, bring that body over here / Leave that f**k n***a over there / Over there, over there, over there, over there / Bring that body over here / And leave that fake n***a over there,” he ruthlessly sings.

Later, calling himself “just a messenger here to undress you,” this song is a hoot and a holler as The-Dream is in hot pursuit.

“Bring That Body” is the first listen from Love/Hate 2, which is poised to be a huge comeback for The-Dream. The album’s announcement comes days after The New York Times crowned him one of The 30 Greatest Living American Songwriters. He’ll be joined on the project by several big time collaborators, including UsherPharrell WilliamsKelly Rowland, Mike DeanSwizz Beatz, T.I., Rick Ross and a few as-yet-unnamed guests.

“I want to make a record about where love is now,” The-Dream said about the new project in a press statement. “Relationships became cheapened. People used to fight for their love. Until I die, every particle in me is optimistic about love.”

We’ll find out soon enough if the sequel is better than the original when The-Dream drops Love/Hate 2. The release date has yet to be announced, but the collection will be released on his imprint RadioKilla Records in partnership with Republic Records.
