The R&B girls are expanding their horizons and venturing out to new genres. And one of those leading the way is singer-songwriter Ravyn Lenae, who recently hinted that she’d be leaning into an alternative sound with her singles “Bobby” and “Reputation.” Those two songs will be included on her recently announced third studio album Blue Island, and she's leaning even further into the sound with new single “Handle.”

Ravyn turns to regular collaborator Dahi and Flanafi to produce the track, and they give her a tapestry of buzzy electric guitar, hard-hitting snares and subtle record scratches as the foundation of the song. It’s a sound that marries pop, alternative and hip-hop that feels fresh. It also allows Ravyn to flex her songwriting skills as she warns a potential lover that her love might be a bit too much for him.

“Oh, my love, my love is like a landslide / Hold on tight, one with me in the undertow,” she sings on the chorus. “Know I might be more than you could handle / When it all comes down, only one way to find o-o-out.”

The visual for “Handle” gives us a lot to handle as well. Directed by Andre Muir and choreographed by Akira Uchida, it features Ravyn slinking her way through a set while looking rather moody and causing several scenes. Despite all that, though, it doesn’t stop her from having sway over the room full of dancers, who can’t help but join her in movement for the fiery chorus. She eventually slinks her way onto a gorgeous hillside, where she looks absolutely breathtaking as the clip comes to an end.
