Infinity Song is on track to have their best summer ever. The sibling quartet consisting of Israel Boyd, Angel Boyd, Abraham Boyd and Momo Boyd is on the verge of releasing their fourth album, the self-titled set Infinity Song, in the next few weeks. The group has been known for their folk rock sound that’s kissed with a bit of pop and R&B, and they’ve exemplified that with recent singles “One Foot Out” and last summer’s one-off “London Foxes.” They keep that formula going with their latest single “Hurricane.”
Produced by Kevin Theodore and Israel, “Hurricane” is one of their songs that veers closest to the dance floor. It’s packed with guitars, a walking drumbeat, bass and synth strings that make this one two-step-worthy. Adding to the layers of complexity are the siblings themselves, who supply layered backing vocals and also trade off on lead.
Lyrically, the song compares the infatuation of love with being caught up in a vicious storm. They sing of lingering senses of their lover, from their face to their touch and their voice, keeping them under a spell that they wouldn’t want to escape even if they could. In fact, they make it known that they can stand the rain.
“Hu-hurricane, let it pour / And I’ll keep waiting for more,” the group sings in unison on the chorus. “Oh, I’ll keep waiting for more / Yeah, I’ll keep waiting for more.”
The quartet gets stylish in the video, which is shot mostly in black and white and mimics the look of their Infinity Song album cover and current press images. The siblings match the song’s vibe in tailor-made and cutting-edge ’fits that match each other’s fresh. They flex their style and their musical chops with ease and look hella fly while doing it.
Perhaps the best part of the clip comes when the video gives us an unexpected pop of color. In those scenes, the siblings let loose like rock stars in a setting that feels like a club, while a room full of party people gets in on the action.
So will it be an Infinity Song summer? Well, “Hurricane” is definitely a bop that’s getting added to our summer playlist right alongside Momo Boyd’s “Oops.” We look forward to hearing what other surprises await on their self-titled album when it drops on Friday, June 12th.
