Durand Bernarr is booked, busy and blessed as he’s been making the rounds promoting his brand-new album BERNARR. This week alone, he’s popped up on TODAY to chat with hosts Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones, Angela Yee’s Way Up With Angela Yee and Deon Cole’s podcast Funny Knowing You. He ends his whirlwind week with a visit to The Kelly Clarkson Show to perform his current single “AM I OKAY?!” and kick it with Kelly Clarkson.

The GRAMMY-winning singer opened the show in fabulous fashion for his turn on Cameo-oke. Kelly’s house band backed him up, and Durand’s mic was on and he sang with his whole chest. Not only were his vocals impeccable, but he also worked the stage and incorporated movement into his performance instead of just standing there. Durand put on a show for the people in the three minutes he was allotted and made quite an impression by the sound of the studio audience’s enthusiastic applause.

Durand’s next stop was Clarkson’s couch for a little kiki later in the show. She started the convo complimenting him on his Canadian tuxedo and marveling about how he sings and performs with his whole body. They spoke about his legendary GRAMMY win and how the new album — which he started recording 48 hours after winning the coveted award — came to be. Durand slipped in a comment about a rock album, which Kelly unfortunately didn’t follow up on, but our interest is piqued.

The conversation turned to his performance style, and she gave him his props. “Live, it kinda seems like, is where you thrive,” Clarkson said. Bernarr quipped, “I’m a live performer that records in the studio.” He continued, “I want to just take people on a journey. It’s an auditory adventure.”

The singer kept the host in stitches for the entire interview, which eventually led to him talking about his stand-up comedy debut at this year’s Netflix Is A Joke comedy festival. The laughs kept coming as Durand ended the interview by recreating his pose from the BERNARR cover on the couch.

One thing is for sure, and two things are for certain: Durand Bernarr is a hoot and a holler, and we can’t wait to see where he pops up next and the shenanigans that ensue.
