It’s been nearly nine years since British crooner Daley added color to our world with his sophomore album The Spectrum in the summer of 2017. Since then, outside of his 2024 The Interlude Tour, the smooth-voiced singer has been relatively quiet on the music front. He’s back to show us even more color with his latest single “Lavender.”
The song finds Daley treading in familiar territory, as he’s in a romantic mood on the track. It’s crafted with a loving sensibility by Daley himself, with production that begins with swooning strings that melt into gentle keys and guitar, throbbing bass and drums that provide a subtle bump to the proceedings.
It’s the perfect accompaniment to the song’s lyrics, where the performer wishes to go someplace with his amour so that they can indulge in each other. Once they make their sweet escape, he has very specific designs to make them see life in a whole new color.
“Lay down your defenses / Let go your pretenses,” he requests on the song’s chorus. “Give me all your senses / And I’ll make you feel / Lavender, lavender / Lavender, lavender.”
“Lavender” is the first we’re hearing from Daley’s upcoming album and serves as a lovely reintroduction to one of the most talented vocalists in the game. We’re sure there’s more to come in the near future, but until then, wrap yourself up in “Lavender” by pressing play right here and then saving or downloading from your digital music service of choice.
