kwn Brings The ‘with all due respect Tour’ To The DMV & Has Fans On Their Best ‘worst behaviour’

kwn, pronounced “kay one,” recently closed out the second leg of her with all due respect Tour, and, of course, she had to hit the DMV area once more on this run. During the tour’s first leg last year, the UK-based R&B singer graced Union Stage in Washington, D.C., but this time around, she leveled up to a much bigger venue, The Fillmore Silver Spring. Throngs of fans were lined down the block to get into the sold-out concert, and once they packed into the venue, they received a show to remember.

Before kwn’s set, fans vibed out to JVCK JAMES, another upcoming R&B artist from across the pond. The “Love In This Club” singer had the ladies swooning, and he owned the stage like a pro during his 15-minute set. 

It was then time for kwn to take the stage, and she stepped out with her ususal swagger. She sported a bedazzled yellow flannel with dark grey jeans and a fitted cap to match. She started strong with “bite me INTRO,” the first track from her with all due respect EP, and the audience went wild as they chanted the lyrics. After that bold icebreaker, kwn reached back to her early work to perform fan favorites “eyes wide open” and “five more.” The crowd couldn’t resist singing along with her, proving she had many of her day “wns” in attendance.

The band started playing her viral hit “do what i say,” and concertgoers screamed even louder. As kwn sang the lyrics, the band mixed in Chris Brown’s “No BS” toward the end of the song, similar to a mix that’s become popularized on TikTok, and she then added in the lyrics of Breezy’s hit.

kwn next sang her latest single “hopeless romantic.” The track also had fans going crazy — despite it only being out for a few weeks — and they sang it bar for bar with kwn as she rocked and moved across the stage. In addition to being a showcase for her smooth runs and velvety vocals, this track gave band members a chance to show off with drum and guitar solos that were a highlight of the set.

She slowed it down with “lord i tried,” another song from her earlier era, and “idea of love,” an unreleased song about wanting to find love but being unsure.

After those emotional tracks, she hyped the crowd back up with a cover of Ginuwine’s “Pony” before previewing more unreleased music. She previewed a song entitled “’til the room stinks,” which was explicit and sultry. She asked the crowd to chant the title on cue throughout the performance, which they gladly did.

Moving into the second half of her hour-long set, she brought a member of the audience on stage to sing Kehlani’s part on their duet “Clothes Off.” The lucky fan sang along and danced as the crowd hyped her up. She even kept singing the lyrics after Kehlani’s part ended, proving she really knew the song, which surprised the artist. “Let’s hear it for her, man!” an impressed kwn proclaimed as the audience cheered her on.

kwn was very cool and down to earth during her show, taking time to talk with the crowd and laugh at the items people held up for her to read. She even had a bra thrown at her, which made her chuckle along with everyone else. 

She had the audience under her control and downright mesmerized when she sang “back of the club.” Another one of her more popular songs from with all due respect, kwn had folks swaying, vibing, catching feelings and holding on tight to their lovers.  

As the concert was winding down, she addressed the crowd again, thanking everyone for coming to see her. She then dropped the song that blew her up and grew her fanbase exponentially, her second Kehlani duet “worst behaviour.” kwn started singing the lyrics to the song first, and everyone happily joined in. The band blended in the instrumental to Justin Timberlake’s “My Love,” which really set it off. With this being the last song, the energy in the building was high as people shouted the lyrics. 

She led the audience in a call and response on the hook. “Freak me like there ain’t no one left on this f**king earth / Talk your s**t and rough me up, girl, bust open this shirt,” the transfixed crowd chanted over and over. After this climactic moment, kwn thanked her fans once again as the band played an outro to end the performance. 

kwn delivered quite a captivating show on her with all due respect Tour. She got the audience wide open with her vocals, commanding stage presence and undeniable swag. Her confident, bold and sometimes raw lyrics came alive on stage and the live arrangements stood out.

Though she has yet to release her debut album, kwn’s come up has been fascinating to witness. Her music has solidified her position as an artist to watch, and this tour proved that she’s an artist to see live in concert, too.
