Joyce Wrice returned to high rotation on our playlists last month with her new single “Break Me In.” Now the R&B songstress, known for songs like “On One” and “Iced Tea” and their dance-heavy music videos, is back with some eight-counts and a little nostalgia in the “Break Me In” visual.
After sampling Amerie’s “Why Don’t We Fall In Love” for the track, Joyce found inspiration from another artist and their Rich Harrison production for her “Break Me In” outfit. Dressed in a white tank, denim shorts and high heels, Wrice paid homage to Beyoncé’s “Crazy In Love” music video look.
She also borrowed Queen Bey’s wind machine, as evidenced by her hair blowing around while she hit the sultry choreography. Outside of her dancing scenes, she’s seen serenading viewers from a chair and perched on a motorcycle while sporting a cropped fur coat.
Joyce engaged with the camera throughout the minimalist visuals to great effect. Her smoldering stare felt as though she was singing directly to the person whom she’d like to break her in and break her off.
Directed by Sarah Dattani Tucker, the “Break Me In” video is simple yet seductive with a vibe that matches the song’s theme of yearning for a lover. We don’t know about you, but we’re already yearning for more from Joyce Wrice. Let her break you in when you watch her in action.
