Zo! & Tall Black Guy’s Expansions era is loading! The duo introduced their next album in December with the funkdafied, Sy Smith-featuring lead single “Keep Him Satisfied.” Now they’ve unlocked more details about the project, including its official release date, cover art, tracklist and lineup of featured artists.
Expansions is scheduled to drop on Tuesday, February 10th, which is a special day for Zo!. That’s the date that the Detroit native moved to Maryland in 2006, and he’s chosen to mark his 20th anniversary in the DMV with this highly anticipated release.
“Y’all don’t understand how hyped up we are to finally announce this album,” both Zo! and Tall Black Guy shared on their respective socials to herald the LP’s impending arrival. The message was paired with the album’s cover image featuring abstract artwork by Jaimee Todd, a multidisciplinary artist who attended middle school with Zo!. (A piece by Todd is also seen on the “Keep Him Satisfied” single cover.)
The 14-song tracklist features a stacked roster of talent, including numerous new collaborators and a few usual suspects in the mix. Among the notable guests are producer and DJ extraordinaire DJ Jazzy Jeff, spoken word artist J. Ivy, Raquel Rodriguez, Phat Kat, Ozay Moore, Micki Miller, Brittney Carter, Lyric Jones and Gareth Donkin. In addition to frequent go-to songstress Sy Smith, there’ll be contributions from their friends Darien Brockington, Debórah Bond, BeMyFiasco, DJ Dez and Nicholas Ryan Gant.
Expansions is Zo! & Tall Black Guy’s second compilation album following 2021’s Abstractions and its 2023 deluxe edition. The album is currently available for pre-order in multiple formats.
