Orlando, Florida is known for many things, such as being the theme park capital of the world and the home of the Orlando Magic, but being a hub for jazz music isn’t one of them. The Orlando Jazz Collective is changing that, however. Since 2023, they’ve brought cutting-edge contemporary jazz artists to perform in Central Florida and filled a void in the local live music scene. The Black-owned collective’s programming has garnered a lot of interest and gained momentum, and now they’re preparing to do their big one this March with the announcement of their inaugural Orlando Jazz Festival.
The festival is scheduled for Saturday, March 21st and will be held at the Mennello Museum of American Art in the Sculpture Garden. The lakeside setting will provide a scenic backdrop for this intimate gathering rooted in culture and community.
The Orlando Jazz Festival is created for modern jazz lovers by modern jazz lovers, and its producers have curated a world-class roster of talent. At the top of the lineup is visionary musician Chief Adjuah (the artist formerly known as Christian Scott), who has been named as one of the headliners. Festivalgoers can also look forward to entertaining performances from progressive jazz fusion band Butcher Brown, pianist/producer Kiefer, flutist/singer Elena Pinderhughes, saxophonist/singer Braxton Cook, singer Malaya and drummer Jonathan Pinson. Additional artists will also be announced in the coming weeks.
