With the February 6th release of Ella Mai’s new album Do You Still Love Me? getting close, she kicks things into high gear with another single from the set and an accompanying visual. Entitled “100,” Ella does the math and lets her man know that she’s got him through thick and thin.
The track is produced by Do You Still Love Me? executive producer Mustard and Keanu Beats and features a sample of the Gladys Knight & The Pips classic “Neither One Of Us (Wants To Be The First To Say Goodbye).” Over that soulful foundation, Ella proves to be just as solid.
“No worries, baby, I got it / You ain’t always gotta be on it,” she assures her lover from the song’s onset, ending the first verse with the lyrics, “Times I barely have enough, but bae, you make it / I admire all your efforts, all your patience / Know this love ain’t got no limit.”
She takes out her calculator on the chorus to do some quick equations, singing, “Baby, even if you only got / 20 for my 80 / Ain’t no maybe / We’ll make it to 100 / If I got 40 for your 60 / You’ll stick with me / We’ll make it to 100, yeah, yeah, yeah.”
The video for “100” is set in a casino and directed by Yussef Haridy and Logan Fields. Ella is a mysterious gambler who’s playing to win in a high-stakes game of Blackjack. Mustard is in the clip in the role of the card dealer, and actor Terrence Terrell plays another gambler at the table. It turns out that they’re no strangers and are in cahoots to pull off a casino caper. Will they get away with their plan and all the money? Well, as Ella sings in the song, “Baby, we gon’ leave with something.”
Ella Mai is holding her man down with “100,” and she continues to hold R&B down one song at a time. Do You Still Love Me? will feature “100” alongside previous singles “Little Things” and “Tell Her” and 11 other tracks. Pre-save/pre-add the album now on several digital music platforms.
