The exceptionally talented Adi Oasis last gave us new music with her stellar 2023 album Lotus Glow. She then took some time away to tend to her family, giving birth to her first child later that year. Now, Adi has returned with her newest EP, Silver Lining, which features six fresh tracks for listeners to enjoy.
Silver Lining is a return to form for the Brooklyn-based artist, who either wrote or co-wrote all the songs. This means that we once again get her signature style of positive lyrics wrapped in bass-heavy, funky grooves. It kicks off with a brief intro, an ode to positivity entitled “We Gon Win.” Over a funky drumbeat, Adi inspires as she chants, “It’s gon’ be / It’s gonna be alright / We gon’ win, we going to the light.”
Title track “Silver Lining” starts with a bouncy, funky bassline and kick drum as Adi’s bright, soothing vocals ride the beat. The song is all about continuing to press on in life despite any obstacles that get in your way. Oasis refuses to let anything bring her down as she sings, “Seven days of highs / Come after the storm / I see butterflies / At the end of the road.”
“In The Sunrise” offers a quick boost of positivity, urging us to move forward over a funky blend of keyboards, a catchy guitar riff and, of course, her bass holding down the bottom. That’s followed by “Stuck In My Head,” a mid-tempo track that narrates Adi's experience of feeling frustrated in her attempts to build a closer connection with her love interest, with her even going back to her roots to speak to her exasperation in French at one point.
Adi stays on the topic of love with “Separate Ways.” Though it has the sound of a classic slow jam, this time she is fed up with her partner not stepping up and is ending the relationship. She makes it very clear on the song as she sings, “I need a new direction / First class on the next flight / You had your chance and now you watch from the side.”
The final song is titled “Cheirinho,” which means pleasant aroma or fragrance in Portuguese. It’s also a love song and features Brazilian artist YOÙN. The song has an island vibe as it starts with an acoustic guitar groove and Adi and YOÙN trading verses, with her singing in English and him singing in his native Portuguese.
Adi Oasis is back in the game and sounds better than ever. You can hear for yourself by giving Silver Lining a listen in the stream below.
