This has been Kehlani’s year. “Folded” is a massive hit that’s still doing numbers and snagged well-deserved GRAMMY nominations for Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance. Kehlani is keeping the momentum going and follows up the biggest song of their career with a brand-new single that has the potential to be another smash. After bringing back yearning on “Folded,” Kehlani is bringing back begging on “Out The Window” after betraying a lover’s trust.
Kehlani had a lapse in judgment and did their significant other dirty. Now that what was done in the dark has come to light, Kehlani pleads for another chance to make things right. The singer-songwriter regrets their actions and sings lyrics dripping with sincerity.
“But, baby, I want you / I’m focused, it’s overdue / Don’t throw it out the window (Don’t throw it out) / Out the window / The late nights, the half-truths / I was reckless, let me prove to you / I’ll throw ’em out the window (Don’t throw it out) / Out the window,” Kehlani sings on the chorus, hoping to prick their loved one’s heart.
“Out The Window” has all the hallmarks of a traditional R&B slow jam featuring a catchy melody, authentic lyrics, a memorable chorus, a bridge and the songstress singing their whole face off. The song was co-written by Kehlani, Khris Riddick-Tynes, Talay Riley and Ashton “SNW” Norful and co-produced by Riddick-Tynes and Antonio Dixon.
Kehlani’s “Folded” era may still be in effect, but the “Out The Window” era has arrived and has our full attention. Listen to the soulful appeal when you press play below.
