The weather may be cooling down, but our playlists are heating up thanks to Devon Culture. The rising singer-songwriter is no stranger to our sexy-time soundtracks, with his previous releases “Butter” and “Pineapples” in the mix. He’s now back with his first record of 2025 and another slow-burning groove for our collections on his latest single “Slow It Down.”
Devon co-wrote “Slow It Down” with Jaylien, who shares co-production credit with Troy Taylor. The sensual slow jam is a showcase for Culture’s vocal range, including his flawless falsetto, which evokes his R&B forefathers El DeBarge and Maxwell. He soars to the heavens on the chorus when he sings, “I think we should slow it down, babe.”
The lyrics speak to a relationship that’s on the fast track, but Devon wants to pump the brakes. He assesses his feelings on the bridge. “We might need to step back / And take a look at where we at / Girl, you like my perfect match / But I don’t wanna be too attached / Girl, you like the keys to my favorite song / But I don’t wanna do this wrong,” he sincerely yet charismatically admits.
Culture’s rizz is in overdrive in the “Slow It Down” visual. He finds love in the club when a dark chocolate beauty enters the spot and catches his attention from the stage. Devon himself is quite a sexy sight dressed in a full-length, red fur coat with no shirt. When he’s not singing his face off on the mic, he connects with her on the packed dance floor, and they slow drag like they’re the only ones in the room. The sexual tension between them smolders, soon turning into a full-blown fire. Time stands still in the club, and they escape to a secluded table where they get better acquainted with each other, to say the least.
With his impressive vocals, writing talent and ’90s fine good looks, Devon Culture is the total package. Get familiar when you play his “Slow It Down” audio and video right here. Add the song to your own playlists on your favorite digital music platforms.
