Debórah Bond is on a roll — an album rollout, that is. After delighting us with a steady flow of singles this summer, she confirms our suspicions that something major is in the works with the official announcement of her new album. Entitled Naomi’s Finest, her fourth studio album will feature “Amber Dust,” “Destiny Knows” and the latest sample “The Same.”
Bond reunites with previous collaborator Trey Sorrells on production for “The Same” after working together on her 2021 album compass: I. She also snagged Jamiroquai drummer Derrick McKenzie and singer Gareth Donkin on background vocals. Everyone’s talents fit together like puzzle pieces along with bass, strings and keys to sound like a timeless rare groove from the 1970s.
Bora floats atop the instrumentation and sets a seductive scene with her lyrics. “Baby, tell me what would you do / Behind these closed doors / Do you trust me / I want you to fantasize,” she entices her lover. She has a strong feeling that he’s ready to reciprocate her desire and energy, though. “And this feels alright / And I bet you feel the same / You told me in your eyes / That you feel the same,” she sings.
“After 2 years of juggling life on the road and creating in between, I’m beyond excited to finally share this body of work,” Bond shared on Instagram and Facebook with the album news, cover art and a snippet of yet another new track. “I wanted to have fun with the songs while also leaving you with some things to think about.”
We think that we’re going to love Naomi’s Finest when we get our hands on it. Debórah Bond is bringing the vocals and the vibes on this set. The album is scheduled to arrive on Friday, October 24th, and it’s currently available to pre-save on various digital music services.
