RAYE has been flying high off the success of her 2023 debut My 21st Century Blues and gaining an ever-growing audience in the process. But, with that era having come to a close, the “Suzanne” singer is ready to move on to the next. To usher in this new period of her artistic journey, RAYE has released her new single “WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!” and announced her as-yet-untitled sophomore album and her cheekily titled This Tour May Contain New Music world tour.
The singer has been teasing “WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!” for quite some time, with snippets of the track appearing all over socials before the single’s release. But the full version of the cut was well worth the wait. Co-written and produced by the singer herself and collaborator Mike Sabath, it’s a brassy, soulful slice of pop with a retro feel that fits RAYE’s musical sensibilities like a glove.
The singer-songwriter uses the song to make a plea for a man to ease her single blues as she points out some of the plights of being alone — including the struggle of trying to unzip a dress by yourself in the wee hours of the morning. On the chorus, she makes her plea official, singing, “Baby, where the hell is my husband? / And what’s taking him so long to find me / Oh baby, where the hell is my lover / Getting down with another / Tell him if you see him, baby / If you see him tell him / He should holler.”
The song’s video acts as a sort of fever dream, with RAYE shifting between playing a woman on a desperate chase for her soulmate and the vampy, barefoot frontwoman of an odd soul outfit. From this odd scenario, the singer eventually realizes that if she gives herself the love and energy that she’s expending, she’ll be just fine.
RAYE hasn’t said much about her upcoming sophomore set (which is currently available for pre-order on her website, but she has announced her tour set to kick off next year in support of the project. The 40-date tour will span both the UK/EU and North America, ensuring that people on both sides of the pond will have chance to revel in RAYE’s talents and her sisters Absolutely and Amma who are on board as her supporting acts.
She’ll kick things off this coming January in Europe in cities like Prague, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Berlin and Paris before wrapping things up with a two-night stand in her hometown of London in February and one last European date in Dublin on March 4th. Then she’ll hit Stateside with a kickoff in Sacramento before winding her way through cities like Seattle, Montreal, Chicago, New York, D.C., Dallas and Las Vegas before winding things down in May with a stop in Los Angeles.
It looks like RAYE will be quite the busy lady in 2026.
