It’s hard to believe that it’s been a couple of years since Moonchild released a new project because the trio has lived in heavy rotation. A fresh collection of music is on the way in 2026, though, and they’re blessing fans with a preview of coming attractions with their latest single “Not Sorry.” Moonchild’s Amber Navran, Max Bryk and Andris Mattson get an assist in this endeavor from neo-soul goddess Jill Scott and hip-hop heavyweight Rapsody.
The track begins with a soothing string-filled instrumental intro that feels like it could be the soundtrack to a fairytale. Then the beat drops in, and Amber floats through with her pillowy vocals, bringing us back to real life with a healthy dose of real talk. She’s unapologetic as she sings directly to someone seeking an apology and makes it clear that they’re never going to receive one.
Amber is downright defiant on the chorus. “I’m not your fixer / I’m not gonna spend my Saturday / Apologizing for your mess / I’m not your sister / I’m not your mother or your wife / I’m not the source of your happiness / But most of all, I’m not sorry,” she sweetly sings while her words sting.
Rapsody drops in on the second verse initially in the role of a comical hotline operator before spitting her bars. She ends her hot 16 with the declaration, “I’m the only that I owe an apology / For putting up with sorry motherf**kers disturbing my peace / Ya b***h!”
After Rap’s verse, Jill joins Amber on the chorus before going solo to bring the song to its climax. “And I ain’t sorry / I’m not at all / Not even a little bit,” she wails. “Feels so good to me / I’m happy to be free and live / And a vibe / And a vibe, and I’m not sorry.”
“We wanted this song to feel like a reclamation of voice and power,” Moonchild stated via press release. “To have Jill Scott and Rapsody join us in telling that story is truly an honor.”
