Trombonist extraordinaire Jeff Bradshaw may be booked and busy with a jam-packed touring schedule, but he somehow found time to record his sixth album The Cure, which he released earlier this month. Bradshaw describes the LP as, “‘The Cure’ for whatever ails ya,” and it delivers his custom blend of jazz, R&B and soul and masterful collaborations. Among his many collaborators on this project is soul man Anthony Hamilton, who joins Jeff on the single “Nothing Else Matters.”
Aside from lending his honeyed vocals to the song, Hamilton co-wrote it with Bradshaw, Jarius “J.Mo” Mozee and Vidal Davis, who also produced the track. This crew combines their prodigious talents to create a heartfelt slow jam.
Anthony is smitten with a special lady and focused solely on her. While guitar, bass, drums and Jeff’s trombone set the instrumental tone in the background, AHam brings his feelings to the forefront. “You / Nothing else matters but you / I hold you dear to me / You / None of it matters but you,” he croons to his love on the chorus.
“The moment I realized you were heaven sent / Got on my knees and spent / Time just thanking Him,” he chimes in on the second verse, thanking his Lord and Savior for this blessing. Mr. Trombone comes through to bless the love song with a solo on the bridge while Anthony seasons the remainder of the track with soulful ad-libs.
“Nothing Else Matters” marks the first time that Jeff Bradshaw has worked with both Anthony Hamilton and Vidal Davis. As good as this song sounds and feels, we certainly hope that more from them is on the way.
The single is one of many musical gems to be found on The Cure. Jeff’s latest is available to listen to in full on all streaming services and has additional features from Dave Hollister, Damien Escobar, Jeff Lorber and more gifted guests.
