We don’t know what you’ve been listening to this summer, but JANE HANDCOCK’s latest album It’s Me, Not You hasn’t left heavy rotation around these parts since it dropped in July. Not only has she given us one of our favorite R&B albums of the year, the generous artist keeps the goodies coming with a video for the LP’s second single “Can’t Let Go.”
JANE initially debuted “Can’t Let Go” with a single-camera visualizer shot in one location, but she takes things a step further for the official music video. She enlists the talents of directors Jo Lenz and Nobody Else behind the camera and takes viewers on location to her hometown of Richmond, California to literally spin the block.
The visual is shot in an industrial waterfront area of the city where JANE links with a few of her homies at a car show. We see her riding around in a vintage convertible lowrider with shiny blue candy paint, gold wire and chrome rims and whitewall tires. Her whip is clean as she pulls up to the scene and posts up in front of a warehouse. While she’s singing and chilling outside of her car, we get shots of a few of the folks there and their fly automobiles.
One dude in particular looks like he may be the man who JANE is singing about in the song who has her wide open. They never hook up on screen, but the way that he twirls a decorative rose and stares into the camera like it’s the singer’s soul is very telling (and sexy, too).
