Charlie Wilson is gassing up the tour bus and hitting the road on his highly anticipated Uncle Charlie’s R&B Cookout Tour. He’ll be joined on the coast-to-coast journey by fellow R&B uncs Babyface, K-Ci Hailey and El DeBarge for what is guaranteed to be one hell of a show. Attendees can expect Wilson to shut down each concert with a headlining set filled with songs from his Gap Band years through his solo career, including his latest single “Keep Me In Love.”
Uncle Charlie lets his lady know all the ways that she lights his fire in “Keep Me In Love.” He is smitten like a kitten as he sings to her about how wonderful and magical she is. “I can’t explain, the kinda spell you put on me / Pull me in with that magnetic energy / Ooh, I can’t lie, you’re just my type / Pinch me if I’m dreamin’ / Ooh, you got that vibe / And you still blow my mind, baby,” Charlie croons on the pre-chorus.
Co-written by Wilson, the song is clearly inspired by his real-life queen, his wife of 30 years Mahin Tat. After all this time, he still can’t believe his good fortune to have found such a good woman, and he has no shame in letting her and the world know. “You keep me in love, so amazing / You keep me in love, so dedicated / You keep me in love, don’t ever change it / You always know the way to keep me in,” he happily sings on the chorus of the grown-up bop.
“Keep Me In Love” is a solid addition to Charlie Wilson’s still-thriving catalog. It’s his first new solo single since 2023’s “Superman,” but the in-demand crooner has recent collaborations with NxWorries, Amaarae, Big Sean, Mustard, Don Toliver and even the star of the animated children’s series Gracie’s Corner.
