You can’t say that Mariah Carey doesn’t know how to do a rollout. The elusive chanteuse has had fans and music lovers alike in a tizzy with news of an upcoming album. But, outside of releasing lead single “Type Dangerous” and teasing the upcoming second single “Sugar Sweet” on socials, the singer hasn’t been very forthcoming with details. That changed today (July 21st) when Mariah not only revealed the project’s title but also gave us the set’s official release date as well.
Mariah Carey’s 16th studio album will be called Here For It All. The singer revealed the title via a short video on her socials. In it, we see MC strutting in an all-black number, her dangerously high black heels clicking in an empty studio as her blonde tresses blow in the wind. Behind her, the album’s title is projected on a white screen while we get glimpses of the cover. The full image is eventually revealed, and it’s a stunner. It’s a black-and-white photo of Carey in a black, cleavage-baring top and adorned by her windswept hair. Her eyes are closed and her smile is bright, harkening back to the days when all we needed was a close-up of Mariah on an album cover to know we were in for something special.
In addition to the album news, Mariah recently dropped a remix EP for her single “Type Dangerous” to expand its reach. The EP starts off with two versions of the track that get extra spark thanks to Mariah adding rap legends Busta Rhymes, Redman and Method Man (“The Remix Of The Gods”) and Big Sean (“The Sean Don Remix”), respectively. Things get even more interesting, though, with the final two remixes. “Type Dangerous (The Touch The Soul Of The People Remix)” finds Mariah enlisting the help of DJ Snake, who gives the track a mellow, world music feel that keeps things swaying. Meanwhile, the “Type Dangerous (The Brazil Funk Remix)” takes us to the streets of Brazil and even enlists Brazilian star Luisa Sonza to bring some authenticity to the occasion.
It’s been 35 years since we first met Mariah Carey, and it seems her reign just won’t let up. When Here For It All drops on Friday, September 26th, we’ll soon see what exactly this new era will bring.
