Jorja Smith Wants To Be ‘With You’

Jorja Smith is determined to keep us dancing all summer long. The British star succeeded in her mission this past May when she dropped her dance floor-ready single “That Way I Love You.” She continues to combine danceable grooves with matters of the heart for her second single of the year, “With You.”

She teams once again with producers Maverick Sabre and Ed Thomas for “With You,” though she adds Jakwob into the production mix as well this go ’round. The trio gives her a shuffling, garage-inspired cut tinged with romance thanks to their mixing in of lovestruck guitar, distorted vocal samples and synths that capture the loving feeling that Smith brings to the track.

Jorja, meanwhile, pours her heart out on the song as she lays her feelings bare on the verses. She speaks to a lover who’s always had her heart, even when they were forced to be apart at times. Even through their ups and downs, she knows that she doesn’t want to be without him and makes it known in the song’s chorus.

“You tell me life is better when you’re with me / You’re right, I’ve been hurt so bad / You’re meant to be in my life,” she sings. “Let you see the whole truth in my smile / So I’m lucky that I get to call you mine.”

The song’s accompanying visual takes us to the party the track’s production suggests. Drinks are poured, people are dancing and fun is being had. However, things still manage to feel intimate thanks to the camera finding stolen moments between Jorja and her love interest, who rarely, if ever, makes his face known to the camera. Something about the mystery of it all has us intrigued, and we’re sure you’ll find yourself drawn in as well.

With two singles in just over two months, we’re beginning to think that Jorja Smith is low-key in the midst of an album rollout. If we were you, we’d keep an eye out on her socials to see what she has in store next. In the meantime, get into her latest right here.
