Teyana Taylor has the world watching as she prepares for the release of her upcoming fourth album Escape Room. Our first introduction was an impressive one, with the singer serving up future R&B vibes on the lead single “Long Time.” Since we’ve gotten some of the project’s harder edges on the lead single, Teyana aims to give us her softer side with the set’s next release, “Bed Of Roses.”

Teyana is in the mood for love on the track, as she makes so secret of what’s on her mind. “I got all this love to give, love to kill tonight / Let me show you it feels, how sweet it feels inside,” she sings on the opening verse. Later, on the chorus, she lets him know that what’s his is hers and what’s hers is his, singing, “Baby, if you want it, you can have it, don’t waste no time / Yeah, you need it, I can please it, I want what’s mine.”

The song is a soft, sensual ballad that feels vulnerable and personal. Perhaps that’s because Teyana herself acts as the song’s producer, allowing her to curate a sound palette of guitar and drums that complements what the lyrics of the song intimates.

For the “Bed Of Roses” visual, the singer all but confirms the rumors about her and actor Aaron Pierre. While the couple has been caught out and about in public and arm in arm at special events, the video shows them in a much more intimate light that’s sure to raise a few eyebrows. But first, the clip opens with a spoken word piece provided by Issa Rae as we see Teyana and Aaron in grainy video footage that shows them getting up close and personal. These are the only moments that don’t occur in a bed, as the clip mainly consists of them kissing, cuddling and getting closer than close on satin sheets.

“Bed Of Roses” has us very intrigued to see and hear what Teyana Taylor will be bringing when Escape Room — both the album and accompanying short film — drops. We’ll get to find out when the set is released on Friday, August 22nd. Stream the song and watch its video when you head below.
