Mya Wants To ‘Give It To You’

Mya has never been one to let the grass grow under her feet, especially since she’s been an independent artist. After making a high-profile appearance in a tribute to video countdown show 106 & Park during this year’s BET Awards, the singer is already on to her second single of the year with the sexy and funk-tastic “Give It To You.”

Though she debuted in the late-’90s, Mya seems to be on an old-school ’80s kick these days. Her most recent single, “Face To Face,” interpolated a bit of The S.O.S. Band for its throwback feel, but “Give It To You” opts for vibes rather than direct inspiration. That means incorporating a bit of programmed drums, synths and a funky slap bass to give us the feel of the decade of excess without going for cheap nostalgia. It’s a sweet setup for the singer to coo and woo us.

Though Mya never defines exactly what the “it” is that she wants to give (outside the vague “all my love”), the song is thick with innuendo. The fella who has caught her eye is making her feel all hot and bothered, and it’s enough to have her ready to jump on the opportunity. Despite her usual classy and reserved demeanor, she steps to him to let him know the deal and makes him an offer that she hopes he won't refuse, singing on the chorus, “If you ask me once / I’ll tell you twice / I wanna give you all my love.”

Mya is on one in 2025, and we are happy to hear the fruit of that labor. Allow her to “Give It To You” good when you stream her latest single right here. Then scroll down to watch her get flirty and fun in a beach-inspired lyric video for the song.
