Little Brother’s farewell tour made a detour to rapper/creative visionary Noochie’s house to rock the mic on Live From The Front Porch. Fresh from kicking off their Curtain Call: The Final Tour in Baltimore, Phonte and Rapper Big Pooh hopped on the BW Parkway and pulled up with singer Darien Brockington to Noochie’s infamous porch in Washington, D.C. for an exciting, career-spanning performance.
Noochie popped out onto the porch while the band played with a quick introduction before Tay and Pooh burst through the front door with D-Brock in tow. The fellas started their set with “The Feel” from their 2019 album May The Lord Watch. The two friends traded verses with the greatest of ease and were having big fun out of the gate.
For their next selection, they took it from their last album to their first, performing “Whatever You Say” from 2003’s The Listening. They were joined by two special guests this time: Noochie, who stepped out to join LB to spit a verse, and an adorable little boy, who sat perched on a speaker behind the guitarist and soaked in the music and the sunshine.
Phonte took a beat to introduce himself, Big Pooh, Darien and the next song. “Let’s slow it down a little bit. Let’s get sexy,” he said before they launched into “Slow It Down.” The fan-favorite track from 2005’s The Minstrel Show showcased both rappers and Brockington’s butter-smooth vocals on the hook.
When it came time for their big finish, Little Brother ended their set with another cut from The Minstrel Show, the project’s lead single “Lovin’ It.” Tay and Pooh’s rhymes were tight as ever as they kept the energy high and were still genuinely having a damn good time doing what they love. Little Brother’s appearance on Live From The Front Porch reminded us just what we’ll be missing when Phonte and Rapper Big Pooh drop their mics for good when the Curtain Call: The Final Tour wraps later this year.
