Amaria is a talent that has been bubbling under for quite some time now. But the Tampa native made quite the splash when she released her debut LP Free Fallin’ this past October and garnered quite a few new fans. The singer has more to offer us, though, as she kicks off summer with her new single “All I’d Ever Know.”
“All I’d Ever Know” is one of the smoothest cuts we’ve heard in a while. That’s due to its jazzy instrumentation — including warm keys, bass, conga, drums, gentle guitar and flute — setting a gentle, sensual mood. It’s a sound that reminds us of neo-soul’s heyday in the late ’90s and early 2000s. With the vibe set, Amaria gives a soft, sexy vocal performance meant to entice.
She starts the song with questions, leading us along as she sings, “Are you learning? / Mmm, I can’t help the way I feel inside / All this yearning / Mmm, I can’t help it / Don’t you recognize?” With us wide open to her charms, she then hooks us as she instructs us to follow her lead and promises to never lead us astray before resting on simplicity for the chorus as she sings, “Loving you was all I’d ever know.”
Amaria continues to show why she’s an artist on the rise. While “All I’d Ever Know” isn’t the speaker-shaking banger that we’ve come to expect of songs released in the warmer months, it’s a groove that eases us into the warmer days with a sexiness that can’t be denied.
