It’s Hampton Jazz & Music Festival time! This coming weekend, music lovers will pull up to the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Virginia to witness three nights of performances from some of our jazz, R&B and soul faves. With this being the 55th Annual Hampton Jazz & Music Festival, the lineup had to come correct for such a milestone anniversary during Black Music Month, and it does.
Festival organizers have partnered with the esteemed Black Promoters Collective to curate the talent this year, and the lineup of artists fits the celebratory occasion. The festival kicks off on Friday, June 27th, with headliner Anthony Hamilton. Before AHam brings his soulful show to the stage, attendees will get to enjoy a night filled with incredible vocals from singers Lalah Hathaway, PJ Morton and Lucky Daye.
Evening two of the festival on Saturday, June 28th will be headlined by Keith Sweat who is sure to bring all his New Jack Swing and ’90s R&B hits and jams with him. Leading up to his set will be performances by ’90s R&B mainstays SWV, trombonist Jeff Bradshaw and singer Maysa, saxophonist Mike Phillips and Maze with a special show in honor of their dearly departed lead singer Frankie Beverly.
The final night of the festival on Sunday, June 29th will end the musical festivities on a legendary note with Patti LaBelle slated to headline. The iconic diva will be preceded by fellow divas Gladys Knight and Stephanie Mills — all of whom are fresh from starring together on The Queens Tour — and violinist Damien Escobar.
The 55th Annual Hampton Jazz & Music Festival did not come to play but to slay with this killer lineup. The festival begins in a matter of days, so if you don’t have your tickets yet, there’s still time to grab them. Single-day tickets are available for purchase from Ticketmaster.
