Summer Walker’s brand-new single “Spend It” has had us in a chokehold since it dropped. The song finds Summer turning into a material girl right in front of our eyes as she demands that her man literally buy back her affections with the balance of his black card. Now, just when we were going in for another spin, the R&B chanteuse has dropped the track’s music video.
We got a teaser for the cut alongside the release of the song, so we already knew that it would be heist-themed. What we weren’t prepared for, however, was just how glamorous the affair would be. The clip begins by introducing us to the players — Summer, Gail Bean as the tech genius, Brandee Evans as undercover security, Angela “Blac Chyna” White as the accomplice and Miracle Watts as the mirage — before we see Walker pull up to the mansion where all the drama is going down.
Their mark is played by veteran actor (and Julia Roberts’ brother) Eric Roberts, who is throwing a lavish party while flaunting all his wealth as the ladies seduce and scheme their way around the event. The bevy of beauties are able to pull off their heist without a hitch. Well, almost without a hitch. A post-credit scene finds Summer lounging in the bath while chatting on the phone with the heist’s mastermind Joanne The Scammer. During their conversation, she reveals that she can’t open the safe that she stole as we’re led into a cliffhanger that could mean a potential sequel.
That’s not the only lead that Summer Walker is giving, however. The video also features a website called WhereIsTheAlbum.com. There, you’ll find a video that teases her upcoming album Finally Over It as well as a clock tracking just how long it’s been since the singer graced us with a project. We have a feeling that you’ll want to keep an eye on that space in the coming days and weeks.
