NxWorries, the dynamic duo made up of Anderson .Paak and Knxwledge, left fans waiting a whole eight years between their debut album Yes Lawd! and their GRAMMY Award-winning 2024 set Why Lawd? — and even then, nearly two years passed between the release of lead single “Where I Go” and the album’s actual release. So it’s not surprising that the public hasn’t really been expecting any new output from the twosome who typically go their separate ways after releasing their joint projects. That’s why it’s come as such a shock that they’ve dropped a single just in time for the summer with “Everybody Gets Down” and announced that they’re going on their first-ever concert tour, the Why Lawd? 2025 Tour.
“Everybody Gets Down” has the summer vibes on lock with a quick-paced combination of hi-hats, snare, kick drum and sweet-sounding synths to keep the whole affair moving. It’s perhaps one of the duo’s most danceable cuts, which is saying a lot for the fellas who brought us songs like “Suede” and “Lyk Dis.” While the groove shuffles along, Anderson comes through smooth and easy as he sings to his lady.
“I know it’s getting late / But I’ll be home in time / It’s the chills you give to me when your lips touch mine,” he teases on the opening verse. “What’s on your mind, what’s on your mind? / Call up my line, you know it’s that time / Don’t cry baby, you’ll survive / Everybody gets down.”
NxWorries releasing a song of the summer contender definitely wasn’t on our bingo cards, but we are happily surprised about this one. We’re also rejoicing that we’ll get to see the pair live in concert together later this summer into the fall on their Why Lawd? 2025 Tour. This will be their first time touring together, but Anderson is a veteran live performer, most recently completing his epic The Malibu Tour last year in celebration of the 10th anniversary of his breakout sophomore album Malibu.
On the Why Lawd? 2025 Tour, Paak and Knxwledge will be accompanied by singer Rae Khalil, who will open for them on this run across North America. They’ll set it off on September 10th in Portland before hitting major cities in the United States and Canada, including Denver, Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, Raleigh, Atlanta, Houston, Las Vegas and Phoenix. NxWorries will wrap the 22-city tour in Los Angeles on October 19th.
