Jorja Smith might be known for her soulful stylings, but her music has always incorporated several genres and styles. Perhaps the most recent example of this is her banger “Little Things,” which landed on several playlists and blazed charts worldwide. She’s been dibbling and dabbling in dance, electronic and house music ever since she dropped that joint in 2023. Now she’s leaning even further into that vibe with her latest single “The Way I Love You.”

The singer links with producers Maverick Sabre, Ed Thomas and Shayk to craft “The Way I Love You.” The collaborators, in turn, give a woozy, wobbly, high-octane dance cut that is high energy. As the synths, buzzy electro-bass and shuffling drums take us to another level, Jorja considers a relationship that’s feeling uncertain.

She sings of navigating a few complicated feelings as she asks her potential boo what’s really going on. “What do you see when you look at me? / How do you feel when you’re touching my body?” she inquires. “It’s not as deep as it’s meant to be / Where do we go from here?” she sings. By the time the chorus comes along, things have reached a fever pitch as she poses one more question: “Don’t you know that I could never love somebody else the way I love you?”

The song’s blue-tinted video takes us for a wild night out with Jorja and her girls. We begin in the car before the songstress gets us into Club Nice. The party there is popping like some Crisco as the crowd wriggles and writhes to the beat all night. Before things come to a close, she brings us back to the streets for the let out as she spins out in a Subaru with vanity plates in front of a crowd of onlookers.

“‘The Way I Love You’ is just so much fun. It takes me back in time – there’s something nostalgic about it but now at the same time,” Jorja said of the track in a press release. “I had the pleasure of working with Maverick Sabre, Ed Thomas and Shayk on this one. Every time I play it with my girls, I get so hyped – it’s a proper head-skanker.”

We have to agree that this one is a party starter. See if you side with us and Jorja Smith when you give “The Way I Love You” and its visual some play below.
