As fans waited for FLO, upcoming R&B songstress Chxrry warmed up the crowd for about 45 minutes with songs like “Just Like Me” and “Poppin’ Out (Mistakes).” The first lady of The Weeknd’s XO Records imprint gave the audience attitude and star power dressed in a fly white shortset, black legwarmers and heels with a cute black and white captain’s hat that tied the whole look together. Her vocals were effortless and smooth as she graced the stage with her model-like beauty. She was the perfect opener to prep the audience for the main event.

When it was time for the headliner, FLO made quite an entrance. Access All Areas track “Intro” featuring the voice of actress Cynthia Erivo played while Jorja, Stella and Renée’s silhouettes appeared behind sheer curtains hung in three arched doorways. Red lighting took over the venue as they stepped out one by one and began to sing the album’s title track “AAA.”

It was on from there, and the energy inside the building was electric with attendees vying for a spot in the group the way they were singing along and carrying on. The trio mainly performed songs from their album, with only a couple of throwbacks added to the setlist.

Before they began “Bending My Rules,” the girls spoke to the crowd, asking if anyone ever felt like bending a rule as they grabbed red wine glasses for the song. Their vocals were exquisite as they harmonized in sync. Although FLO sang live over pre-recorded instrumentals, they executed such a tight performance that the live band element wasn’t missed.

Their performance of sister songs “IWH2BMX” and “Nocturnal” was a highlight of the night. The edginess of the tracks, the choreography and their command of the stage enhanced the seamless transition from one song to the next and felt very rockstar-like.

The trio got sensual with “Soft” as they took their time and paused for effect, which made the crowd go wild. The audience also loved the choreography for this song as the girls seductively danced all over the stage. “On & On” was another highlight and fan favorite as Stella, Renée and Jorja proved they could be sexy and still serve vocals.

Concertgoers got the most hyped up when FLO sang “Get It Till I’m Gone” and “Shoulda Coulda Woulda.” For these songs, each woman worked the stage with much attitude and showcased their impressive vocals. Fans were so loud at this point that the girls confirmed that the DMV was their loudest crowd yet.

The ladies closed the show with the song that started it all, their first single “Cardboard Box,” and delivered a key change, tight-knit harmonies and punchy adlibs before exiting the stage. The audience chanted and cheered for an encore, and FLO returned to finish their set with “I’m Just A Girl” and brought back that rockstar energy.
